Product Description

A 2007 Strathisla single malt, bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange. It was matured in first-fill American oak for 15 years and bottled at cask strength. We're particularly pleased that we managed to source this whisky, the first shop-exclusive and a rare cask-strength official bottling of whisky from the distillery. It's packed with the distillery's trademark fruitiness, with softly spicy and toffee-forward flavours from the casks layered on top.

  • Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

      Victoria sponge cake with raspberry jam, spiced shortbread, sultanas, baked apple, candied orange peel and ripe pear. The vanilla from the sponge becomes light custard and apples become apple pie. Creaminess builds along with banana hints.

    • Palate

      A big hit of spice and fruit leads to barley sugar sweetness, orange milk-chocolate and lots of orchard fruit – fresh and cooked very ripe apples and pears. Garibaldi biscuits develop, along with berry fruit: blueberries and blackcurrants.

    • Finish

      Spiced custard and shortbread with banana hints.

    I bought this bottle some time ago and meant to leave a review but things happened and it slipped my mind. It's a stunning malt, I'm so pleased I treated myself to a bottle. I agree with all the tasting notes. The only comment I would make, for me, at 60%, I needed to add a small splash of water. It opens up beautifully.
